Services offered by the Legal Aid Society of Orange County

Asian American Outreach

Asian Pacific Islander (API) communities are heavily concentrated in California - more than 30 percent of the nations API residents live in the state - with 2 million residing in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. The 2000 Census shows that there are 135,548 Vietnamese-speaking residents residing in Orange County, with approximately 27 percent living below the poverty level. Language and cultural barriers have greatly limited this community's ability to find adequate legal assistance. LASOC's Asian-American Outreach Program provides extensive outreach to both the Vietnamese community, as well as to Korean-speaking residents, and provides a full range of legal services to these populations in their native languages.
